Presidential Inauguration 2012

In, Out, Change It All About!

Every year since 1922, our Club has inaugurated a new President. Just look at our Roll of Honour to see names which are woven into the fabric of modern Southport. To be added to this list is an achievement worthy of note, and this is where we make that note!

Our regular meeting on Wednesday 27th June was replaced by an Inaugural Dinner, held in the Balmoral Suite of the Royal Clifton Hotel. Present were Rotarians, Partners in Service, Colleagues from other Rotary and Service Clubs, and Guests.

The main events of the gathering were the transfer of the Club Presidency from Rtn Tim Timmerman to Vice President Chris Leather, and the installation of Rtn David Clark as the new Vice President.

Roll of Honour

Although there was a serious purpose to the evening, the emphasis was more on the social side, and everyone present enjoyed the opportunity to talk to old and new friends, and to tell tall tales about the outgoing and incoming Presidents alike!

This was aided by a change to the format of the evening; gone was the separate reception for the official guests, gone, too, the ritual procession to the top table, gone, indeed, the top table itself. Rotary is a democratic organisation, and incoming President Chris Leather was determined to put these principles into action!
